Famoco wins Idinvest Sustainability & Impact Award 2018

On October 11th, at the Annual Investment Seminar 2018, Idinvest had the great honour of bestowing the 2018 Idinvest Sustainability & Impact Award upon Famoco for its project dedicated to digital wallets that transform development aid in emerging markets for the United Nations.

Famoco has worked with international organisations to secure aid to beneficiaries by digitising food stamps and creating a wholesome circle in the local economy. Lionel Baraban, CEO of Famoco, stated "We are extremely proud to receive this award that highlights the role that technology can have in realising the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Sustainability & Impact Award recognizes the best initiatives of Idinvest Partners' portfolio companies in terms of responsible growth aligned with the United Nation' SDGs, and is awarded by the jury based on the following criteria:

  • the market or challenge of the project;
  • the project's impact;
  • the sustainability of the project;
  • the project's ROI.
Idinvest's Sustainability & Impact Award winner was chosen by a jury composed of:

The other nominee projects of Idinvest Partners' portfolio companies were:

  • M2i, for its Lobésia Pro spray, an innovative biological insecticide that protects vineyards against the European Grapevine Moth;
  • Organica, for its wastewater treatment plant in Shanghai, China;
  • Remade, for its project Second Life Products that prevents tons of CO2 emission into the atmosphere;
  • Scality, for founding the Holberton Scholarship in San Francisco, USA;
  • Segex, for CSR, a strategic development tool for the company and contributions to SDGs.
