Nicolas Chaudron


Nicolas Chaudron is a Partner in the Venture Capital team, where he leads Idinvest's investments in the Smart Cities sector. In 2011, he launched Electranova Capital, a Smart Cities venture capital fund sponsored by EDF. Nicolas led Idinvest Partners' investments in several companies including Nenuphar (vertical axis offshore wind turbines), Seatower (foundations for offshore wind turbines), Forsee Power Solutions (energy storage), Sunfire (high temperature fuel cells and electrolyzers), Leosphere (instruments for wind measurement and aerosol characterization) and Techniwood (which makes Panobloc, an innovative building material). Nicolas is a member of the strategy committee of the Cleantech Group and a founder of the Club Cleantech AFIC (French Private Equity Association), a platform designed to promote the Smart Cities ecosystem in France. Prior to that, Nicolas focused mainly on the IT and electronics sectors and led Idinvest Partners' investments in Soamai (sold to ASG), Alchimer, Median Technologies (IPO), Alchimedics (sold to Sinomed) and Telemarket (sold to Système U). Between 2001 and 2005, Nicolas was also on the board of several innovative companies, including two of France's Smart Cities pioneers: Siriatech and Vizelia.

Before joining Idinvest Partners in 2001, Nicolas started his career in private equity at Europatweb, the internet investment company founded by Bernard Arnault. In addition to his involvement in the operational launch of Europatweb, he participated in various investments and led the one in Webhelp (LBO exit in 2007).

Nicolas is an alumnus of the Ecole Normale Supérieure (France) and of Peking University (China). He holds a postgraduate degree in mathematics from Paris VI University, an MBA from the Collège des Ingénieurs, and an MBA from the Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania), where he was a Palmer Scholar.
